Space is limited. If there's a lot of interest, I will repeat the workshop on Sunday, June 28.

Workshop will be held at my house, 14 Village Road, Surry, NH, just north of Keene.

LOOSEN UP Join us as we explore several methods that can support us in creating paintings that are fresher and more alive. Changes in our color choices, the ways we make marks, and use our materials all have an influence on both our process and results. We'll look into many of those.
LET'S TALK So, you want to paint with more freedom? To loosen up? What does that mean to you and how do you make that happen? Each artist will be asked to share their ideas and goals for the workshop. (I will offer more guidence on how to prepare this to those who sign up.) This promises to be an interesting and inspiring converstaion.
INVESTIGATIONS We'll experiment with several painting exercises of various techniques that support looser painting styles. Negative painting will also be an integral part of this workshop. Learning to see opportunities for using negative painting can help us define things just the right amount enough detail and liberate the rest.
AFTER LUNCH there will be time to work on a piece of your own and bring some of the ideas from the morning into a painting. We'll wrap up with time to share. Taking time to look at our work, share process, and discoveries is an important and essential part of our workshop. We'll look back to our initial discussion to see what held, what's new, and where we want to go next. Your generosity in sharing expands the experience for everyone in a very valueable way.
BRING your own usual watercolor supplies — paints (especially transparent colors), brushes, water containers, etc. Canson XL watercolor paper will be available for your experiments and paintings. You may want to bring nicer paper for a more finished piece.
