painting reds

The weather was much too wet for plein air painting on our first couple days on Monhegan Island in September, 2025. So, painting inshide was the order of the day. A collection of some beautiful red things posed for paintings in my sketchbook. Using different red pigments in various combinations with other colors on my palette, I experimented with color mixing for the colors in light and the shades they became as they turned into shadow. A delightful challenge on a rainy day.
